From Warminster head towards Bath on the A36. When you reach The Bell at Standerwick, turn left passing Mole Valley Farmers on your left, and carry on past Rectory Cottage on the left. The parking for the lake is the first gate past the cottage on the left, almost opposite Berkley Grange. Make sure you lock the gate behind you. It is a fair walk to the lake so travel light and use a trolley. At the end of the car park you will see a large Oak tree with a WDAC sign, head for this sign and turn left and follow the path across to the woods, go through the wooden gate and follow the path to the lake. It’s worth the walk as the lake is part of the Berkley Estate and set in the lovely and peaceful Somerset countryside. Fishing is from dawn til dusk and night fishing is by prior arrangements via the club shop. The lake holds a good head of carp, rudd, roach and tench. The lake fishes well all year round on the feeder or waggler. You will catch on most baits, with bread, corn and maggots working well. Matches held at Berkley have recorded weights in excess of 200 lbs mainly carp weighing between 3-10 lbs.
